Who we are - Spanish

 

Clara I. Maltrás

holds a BA degree in Spanish Linguistics and Literature, and completed doctorate level studies in Linguistics. She currently attends Medical School at a Spanish University. She also completed a Spanish-English Medical/Legal Interpreting Program from the San Francisco State University, California. She has lived for several years in the USA, and has been in the translation business since 1996, specializing in the Biomedical field. She has localized several renowned medical publications and web sites.

 

Edward Dirckze

holds a BS degree in Engineering, which he complemented with a degree in Submarine Engineering, and another degree in Diving medicine and treatment of decompression accidents. He's also specialized in Hyperbaric installations and Gas Supply Systems. He has been in the translation business since 1985, specializing in IT, the automotive sector, medical equipment and software, energy, and biomechanics. He has sound experience in imaging systems, website localization, and telecommunications.

 

Daniel Alcaine-Rich

holds a BS degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal production, and Food Science, Technology & Biochemistry, all in one. He is bilingual in Spanish and English, Spanish being his mother tongue. He's been a full-time translator and localizer since 1995, specializing in IT, medicine, biotech, biochemistry, pharmacology, patents, and several other fields. He has localized several software applications and some huge websites. He has experience with Java, HTML, ASP, and C/C++, and has also worked on ERP, e-commerce, environmental, and pure science projects.

 

Virginia de la Peña

is a University graduate in International Tourism from the Spanish Centre for New Careers, Madrid (1985) and in Technical Translation from the University "Johannes Gutenberg" in Germersheim, Germany (1994). She has worked as an Interpreter for the European Council in Strasbourg, France (1992), and as a freelance translator for a wealth of companies throughout Europe. Her skills in technical translation have enabled her to become proficient in fields as diverse as software localization, computer games, civil engineering, automotion, machine tools, pharmaceuticals, environmental technology, websites, and more.

 

Amadeu Grifoll

is an Industrial Engineer from the Universidad Laboral in Tarragona, Spain (1974), and a Translation graduate from the University of Barcelona in Vic, Spain (1997), where he's also completed doctoral studies. In addition, he holds a Master's Degree in Teaching Spanish as a foreign language (2001) and he's a member of the Assocation of translators of Catalonia, Spain. He has 18 years experience in electrical and electronic devices, and also sound experience in quality assurance standards, such as ISO 9001/9002, and QS 9000. He's specially skilled in engineering fields such as mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering, as well as in chemistry and automotion.

 

Beatriz Garmendia

is a former Geological Engineer (Geologist) who has studied and worked in Venezuela, the U.S., France and Canada. A trilingual translator, she's a member of the Society of Engineers of Venezuela, as well as an associate member of the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia. She localizes websites, software applications, and scientific papers, being specially proficient in geology, mining and geophysics. Beatriz's career as a geologist included an appointment at the Venezuelan CONAN (National Council for Nuclear Affairs). She's been a full-time translator since 1997.
